I am Kairav Mittal
Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) · Certified EMT · Founder, Project Root · Municipal Intern, Town of Crewe · Technology Developer

I completed my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training under Master Kamal — founder of KriYoga and KayaMana Wellness Retreat Center in Thailand — in February 2022, when I was 12 years old. The training comprised 6 months of online instruction followed by 2 months of in-person practical training conducted in Virginia. Master Kamal's lineage is rooted in the Himalayan tradition, including the ancient SO HUM mantra technique. That training gave me tools I have spent the years since learning how to share.
In 2023 I visited Crewe, Virginia for the first time — and in 2025 I returned as a municipal intern under Town Manager Phil Miskovic, working on civic technology and design projects for the town. What I saw in that community — limited access to mental health resources, healthcare, and structured wellness programs — stayed with me. I founded Project Root in 2024 to bring free yoga and stress management to Southside Virginia's most underserved communities.
I am also a certified EMT, a web developer who has designed and built websites for healthcare technology companies, and a municipal intern who has served the Town of Crewe through logo design, marketing materials, and civic technology projects. I built RootBreath to extend Project Root's mission digitally. Technology and ancient wisdom working together is the future I want to help build.

Trained in the Himalayan Tradition
My yoga practice is rooted in the teachings of Master Kamal, founder of KriYoga and the KayaMana Wellness Retreat Center in Thailand. I trained under him for 8 months — 6 months online and 2 months in person — completing my 200-hour certification at age 12. Master Kamal's lineage draws from the ancient Himalayan tradition, including the SO HUM mantra (meaning "I am that") which forms the sound foundation of the RootBreath app.
